Center Console Organizer for Tesla Model S & Model X — What to Look For

The Tesla Model S and Model X Gen 2 interior is genuinely beautiful. Minimalist, clean, premium. And the center console — the long armrest console between the front seats — is thoughtfully designed with a deep storage compartment under a hinged lid.

The problem is the same one Rivian owners know well: a single deep compartment with no internal structure. Everything that goes in becomes a pile. Keys migrate to the bottom. Cables tangle. The sunglasses you need are under the phone charger that's under the lip balm you forgot about.

A good console organizer fixes this without touching the car. No adhesives, no drilling, no voiding anything. It drops in, structures the space, and disappears visually into the interior. Here's what to look for.

Which Model S and Model X does this apply to?

This guide covers the Gen 2 interior — Model S and Model X produced from 2021 through 2026. This is the refresh generation with the yoke or round steering wheel, the large horizontal touchscreen, and the redesigned center console with the sliding lid and deep storage well.

If you have a pre-2021 Model S or Model X, the console design is different and this guide doesn't apply. The Gen 1 interior has a different cavity shape and requires a different organizer.

What the Gen 2 console actually looks like inside

The Gen 2 center console storage well is roughly 11" long × 4.5" wide × 3" deep. It has a smooth flat bottom, straight walls, and a piano black or white interior finish depending on your trim. There are no factory dividers, no trays, no clips or anchors of any kind.

The lid slides back on a rail to open. The opening itself is clean and unobstructed — which means an organizer can drop straight in with no modification required, as long as it's sized correctly.

The two pieces you actually need

The most functional organizer setup for the Gen 2 console is a two-piece system:

A lower storage bin that sits in the bottom of the well and creates distinct compartments — a glasses bay, a slot for a J1772 adapter, a sanitizer holder, a general storage area. This is the piece that does most of the organizational work.

An upper tray that sits on top of the bin and handles flat daily-carry items — cards, lip balm, small cables, charging dongles. The tray lifts out when you need to access the lower bin.

Together they use the full depth of the console while giving you two distinct storage zones. Single-piece organizers exist but tend to waste either the depth or the surface area.

Fit: the spec that matters most

The Gen 2 console well has specific dimensions and a specific finish. An organizer that fits loosely will rattle — and rattle in a Tesla is conspicuous. An organizer that's sized for a generic vehicle won't match the interior profile and will sit awkwardly or shift during cornering.

What you want:

  • Designed specifically for Model S/X Gen 2 — not adapted from another vehicle or sold as a universal fit
  • Drop-in installation — no tools, no adhesives, no clips. If it fits correctly it holds itself in place through friction and weight
  • No side-to-side movement when driving — the organizer should be snug against the console walls
  • Clears the lid travel path — the sliding lid needs to open and close fully without catching on the organizer

That last point is easy to miss. The Gen 2 lid slides back on a rail, and an organizer that's even slightly too tall in the wrong spot will interfere with it. Confirm the product page addresses lid clearance explicitly.

Material: PETG, not PLA

A car interior in direct sun can reach 140–160°F on a hot day. PLA — the most common 3D printing material — softens around 140°F. In a black or dark-colored Tesla parked in summer sun, interior temperatures regularly exceed that threshold.

PETG handles heat up to 160–175°F before softening. It's also more impact-resistant, so it doesn't crack when something hard gets dropped into the console. For a car accessory, PETG is the correct choice. PLA is a cost-cutting measure that shows up as warped tolerances after a few hot days.

If a listing doesn't specify the material, ask. If the answer is PLA, look elsewhere.

Colorway: matching your interior

The Gen 2 Model S and Model X come in two primary interior finishes: a cream/white interior and a black interior. Your organizer colorway should match or complement whichever you have.

Three colorways cover the range:

  • Red accent — deep crimson base with matte black accent ring. Works with black interiors, adds a pop of color that reads as intentional rather than aftermarket
  • Black Ops Red — matte black base with deep crimson accent ring. Stealth option for black interiors, matches the dark trim lines of the Gen 2 interior
  • Black Ops White — white base with matte black accent ring. Designed specifically for cream and white interiors — the only colorway that looks factory-correct in a light interior

If you have a white interior, Black Ops White is the obvious choice. If you have a black interior, Red or Black Ops Red both work — it comes down to whether you want the accent to read warm or stay dark.

What the Niftly3D organizer includes

Our two-piece set was designed by a Model X owner against an actual Gen 2 console. Every dimension was measured and tested in the car before we sold a single unit.

The lower bin has dedicated bays for:

  • Sunglasses or glasses case
  • J1772 adapter (fits snugly upright)
  • Hand sanitizer bottle
  • General storage

The upper tray lifts out cleanly, handles flat items, and stores inside the console when not in use. Both pieces are printed in PETG. The accent ring is a press-fit separate piece — which is how we achieve two-tone color without painting.

Available in three colorways to match the Gen 2 interior. Ships from Las Vegas in 1–3 business days.
